ADA, Mich., Oct. 6, 2008 – Americans want to improve their wellness, but are finding it difficult to keep up with regular exercise. The Amway Global Wellness Index, a new study of more than 15,000 Americans, shows that nearly one in five (18 percent) claim to never participate in a group activity, such as walking or biking with family or friends.

While 93 percent of Americans report attempting to make everyday choices to be healthy and live well, more than half (52 percent) of Alabama residents say they struggle to do so, according to the Amway Global Wellness Index, a recent national survey of more than 15,000 Americans regarding their health and wellness. Alabama residents reported that the two main barriers preventing them from living a healthier lifestyle include lack of time (33 percent) and personal health issues (23 percent).
